Well worth a drive through the snow to witness something this majestic!

Promenade and beach at Trearddur Bay, Anglesey, North Wales Sandy beach at Trearddur Bay, Anglesey, North Wales Rocks and the sandy beach at Trearddur Bay, Anglesey, North Wales

What we thought would be a brief stopover for a quick tea turned into something much more involved and time consuming as my wife Liz and I stopped at Trearddur Bay on the northwest coast of Anglesey on a clear, cold and crisp early spring afternoon.

Taking a short break from family Christmas festivities to bring some non-seasonal cheer with these three images of a place that is very dear to my wife Liz and I - the lovely peaceful little beach of Porth Trwyn on the beautiful Isle of Anglesey, pictured in all its spring freshness from early last April.

Time lapse video showing stars and clouds over the Vale of Clwyd, as seen from the slopes of Moel Famau, North Wales

I'm so blessed to be living in North Wales, with views like this out over the Vale of Clywd just a ten minute drive and a short climb from my home.

Of course, in the middle of winter the views are mostly at night for me, as I go out early in the morning before going to work.

But that's no hardship when there are displays of stars and clouds like these on offer!

These five images were all captured in the same place on the same day.

I'm talking about the stunning Church Bay on the beautiful Isle of Anglesey (excessive use of superlatives I know, but this location is so worth it!), photographed in the hours before and after sunset, with all the images being taken within a few metres of each other.

Such an amazing place to be, always the same since my teenage years and yet ever changing.

My home patch of North Wales is redolent with history, as denoted by the number of castles and monuments in this part of the world.

Mind you, some were better built than others!

You can tell how far behind in image processing I am from these three photos of St Mary's parish church in my home town of Mold, North Wales.

Notice the blossom?

Yes - These pictures have been sitting in my 'pending' folder since last spring!

Still, it's proving to be a delight going through images I've captured but done nothing with yet, as there are some gems in there that I'd forgotten I'd taken.

There's plenty of duds as well, but that's how this game of photography goes!

Dramatic and colourful sunset over the Irish Sea as seen from the North Wales coast at Llandudno West Shore Colourful sunset over the South Stack Lighthouse on the Isle of Anglesey, North Wales

A lovely pair of sunsets from last March to enjoy today, each taken from hundreds of frames used to create time lapse videos.

With its active weather, the North Wales coast really is a wonderful place to catch a sunset - when it's not raining of course!

Time lapse video showing stars and clouds over the Clwydian Range Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), as seen from the Loggerheads County Park near Mold

A memory of last weekend's snow.

This timelapse shows one of my favourite views, overlooking the Clwydian Range Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) from the limestone escarpement at Loggerheads Country Park, all just a few minutes' drive from my home in North Wales.

This was the last opportunity I had to capture the snowy scene before a weather front moved across from the Irish Sea and melted the lot!

A place of peace and beauty, these are the last few images (out of dozens that I took on the day) of Tarn Hows in late autumn that I'm presenting here at goHOWiE.com.

The Lake District is certainly a place I'd like to spend more time exploring.

Three days just wasn't enough!

Some more views from the walk around Tarns Hows that my wife Liz and I enjoyed during our long weekend in the Lake District.

The subdued, diffuse light and calm conditions made for a lovely woodland experience, which I took full advantage of.

During our three day explore around the Lake District, the spot that my wife Liz and I enjoyed visiting the most was the beautiful Tarn Hows, new to me but a childhood memory for Liz.

We spent quite a few hours here, walking around the lake at a gentle pace with me taking dozens of photos of the lovely autumnal scenes.

These two panoramic images show the lake as a whole, but from different angles, and there will be photos from Tarn Hows of a more intimate nature presented here at goHOWiE.com over the next couple of days.

I know I'm biased as to the beauties of my home patch of North Wales, but I have to admit that there are some nice places in the rest of the UK also.

One such is the Lake District, two hours north of where my wife Liz and I live, so within reasonable travelling distance for a long weekend.

Which is just what we did, spending three days exploring and photographing around the Lake District in late autumn 2017.

These three images are from Ashness Bridge, near Derwent Water, and are typical of the lovely rural scenery on offer in this part of the British Isles.

Having finally finished processing photos from our September break in Crete it's now time to catch up on a backlog of time lapse videos that I've been out and about shooting over the past few weeks.

These three all feature lakes, two from a long weekend in the Lake District and one from a spectacular afternoon in Snowdonia.

Wow! These are the final images from the two week holiday that my wife Liz and I enjoyed on the Mediterranean island of Crete.

I can't now believe how much ground we covered, and how many photos I took during our stay.

It's certainly been a lovely experience developing and presenting these sunny and warm images while outside the weather has been typically damp and cold welsh.

Now - where to next?

An old door with peeling blue paint at Mythos on Crete Blue door in sunlight and shadow at Mythos on Crete An old door with peeling blue paint at Mochlos on Crete

It's funny, but in every country that my wife Liz and I have visited we've noticed that there is a prevailing colour that sort of defines the place, culture and tradition.

On the Mediterranean island of Crete that colour was blue, which was seeming applied to all architectural features that weren't walls (which were almost invariably white).

Here are three typical expamples of blue painted doors, each one different in terms of age and care, but all sharing that common colour.
