These three images show a gorgeous midsummer twilight sky over the estuary of the river Dee as it flows past the industrial landscape of Deeside and Connah's Quay on the North Wales coast.

This is my local river, and even this industrial scene is rendered beautiful in the right light.

Time lapse video of night falling over Llandudno Pier and North Shore on the North Wales coast

Having been trapped indoors by bad weather for too long, my wife Liz and I took the opportunity of a few hours' break in the January rain to venture out to the North Wales coast.

We ended up just after sunset on the Great Orme, overlooking Llandudno pier and North Shore promenade, which is where I filmed this time lapse sequence of dusk falling over the bay.

And now for something completely different!

These old graffiti covered brick railway viaduct arches in Stroud, Gloucestershire, are about as opposite as you can get from my normal photographic fare of beautiful landscapes.

But even so, the decay and dereliction hold an enigmatic beauty all their own.

My thanks to my artist daughter Allie for showing us round some of the less well visited places in her current home town!

Two of the most photogenic mountains in the Snowdonia National Park near my home in North Wales, these are the twin peaks of Tryfan and Pen yr Ole Wen, situated either side of the lovely Llyn Ogwen in the Ogwen Valley.

I'm just glad the mountains look so good from below, rather than having to climb them to see views like these!

It's nice to travel and photograph in far flung corners of the globe, but sometimes you just need to keep your eyes open and camera ready in your own home town.

That's what I did one lovely spring morning in 2017 while waiting for my wife Liz in the car park of our local cottage hospital.

These two similar images of the Snowdon Horseshoe range in the Snowdonia National Park in North Wales were taken at either end of 2017, January and December, under very different weather conditions.

It just goes to show how the same view can look so different, and why I keep photographing at the same spots as you never see the same conditions twice.

Especially in North Wales!
