Time lapse video showing a colourful sunset and dusk over the turbines of the offshore Colwyn Bay wind farm, as seen from Rhyl on the North Wales coast

Another day, another beautiful sunset on the North Wales coast.

I'm getting seriously timelapsed out during this spell of wonderful weather in late June, taking every opportunity to capture the lovely colour and light as the sun dips down to the horizon and beyond.

But what to include in the shot to compliment the sun setting?

Fortunately for me there's no shortage of dramatic backdrops for my videos on the North Wales coast, such as the imposing turbines of the Gwynt y Môr offshore windfarm, seen here from the harbour at Rhyl.

Time lapse video showing a colourful sunset over the estuary of the river Conwy with ebbing tide on the North Wales coast

Quite often a spectacular sunset will be followed by an even more dramatic twilight, so I always try and keep filming after the sun has set to see how things develop.

I'm certainly glad I did on this particular evening overlooking the estuary of the river Conwy on the North Wales coast, as both the sunset and twilight were stunning and made for a wonderful time lapse video.

Time lapse video showing sunset over the Great Orme into the Irish Sea from Llandudno on the North Wales coast

The good weather continues, and I'm making the most of it by shooting as many different timelapse views around North Wales as possible.

Such as this lovely sunset over the Great Orme at Llandudno, only visible at this spot around midsummer.

Time lapse video showing the sun setting behind the Point of Ayr lighthouse as viewed from Talacre beach on the North Wales coast

Another day, another beautiful and dramatic sunset on the North Wales coast, this time featuring the Point of Ayr lighthouse on the beach at Talacre.

I must say that this June is proving to be a bonanza time for outdoor photography of all sorts.

But I'm secretly hoping for it to start raining so I can get some rest and catch up on image processing!

Be careful what you wish for!

Time lapse video showing a beautiful sunset over the beach at Llanfairfechan on the North Wales coast

This time of year is rather tiring on the outdoor photographer at a latitude of 53°:N.

With sunrise at 4.45am and sunset at 9.45pm, shooting at the beginning and end of the day takes some stamina, but scenes like this sunset over the sea from Llanfairfechan on the North wales coast make the effort worthwhile.

Time lapse video showing the tide coming in up a wooden jetty on the beach at Llandudno on the North Wales coast at dawn Time lapse video showing the tide receding along a wooden jetty on the beach at Llandudno on the North Wales coast at sunrise

The great thing about shooting time lapse videos at the seaside is that there's always something moving.

I'm talking about the tide of course, and with a maximum tidal range of around eight metres, the North Wales coast provides some extreme changes of view to capture.

Such as these two views of a wooden jetty on the foreshore at Llandudno's North Shore, one with the tide coming in and one with the tide going out.

Time lapse video showing colourful clouds at sunset over Colwyn Bay on the North Wales coast

The North Wales coast is one of those wonderful places in the world that just keeps on giving and giving, visually and to all the orther senses as well.

But seeing as I can't present the smell of the shore or the feel of a sea breeze here at goHOWiE.com, I'll just have to be content with a visually stunning and beautiful sunset, filmed over wet sand at Colwyn Bay on a gorgeous summer's evening.

Time lapse video showing sunrise over the Irish Sea from Llandudno on the North Wales coast Time lapse video showing sunset over the Great Orme into the Irish Sea from Llandudno on the North Wales coast

Llandudno is in a unique location on the North Wales, with views out to sea facing almost all the points of the compass.

A fact I made use of earlier this month when capturing the stills for these two time lapse videos, showing both sunrise and sunset from each end of the North Shore promenade.

This is only possible around midsummer, and makes for some very early starts and late finishes!

Time lapse video showing dusk and nightfall over Conway Castle on the North Wales coast

Along with stunning natural beauty, North Wales is also home to some very impressive castles, such as Conway Castle, captured here in this timelapse video clip during dusk at low tide on the Conwy estuary.

Time lapse video showing a colourful sunset over the estuary of the river Conwy at low tide on the North Wales coast

Phew - Midsummer is a busy old time photographically speaking in North Wales, with sunset at around quarter to ten giving very long days with little sleep.

But who would want to be indoors when there's so much beauty to be enjoyed and captured on time lapse video.

Such as this sunset over the Conwy estuary, only visible in this location in the couple of week either side of the longest day.

Time lapse video showing a gibbous moon moving across a darkening clear blue sky Time lapse video showing a crescent moon moving across a clear blue sky

Shooting time lapse sequences of the moon using a long lens can be quite tricky, requiring a relatively clear sky either side of sunrise or sunset, and no wind to buffet the camera, which causes a twitchy video.

So on the rare occasions when these meteorological factors come together I try and take advantage, adding to my library of time lapse clips showing the moon in different phases.

So here are my two latest efforts, featuring the moon in both gibbous and crescent phases.

We're back on the time lapse videos here at goHOWiE.com for the next few days, as I have quite a backlog of clips to produce and present.

Starting off, here are four short films featuring the iconic pier at Cromer on the North Sea coast of Norfolk, shot whilst on holiday in this lovely, but somewhat flat, part of the UK.

Panoramic image of Colwyn Bay at night at high tide on the North Wales coast

My cry of 'just one more photo' turned into a dozen or so as I shot the overlapping frames for this panoramic collage of Colwyn bay at twilight on the North Wales coast.

Still, you wouldn't want to stint when capturing such a beautiful scene!

Panoramic image of Moelfre Island at Moelfre, Anglesey, North Wales

Whew! - Just got back from a week's holiday in Norfolk - Nice, but flat!

So I'm glad to be back home in mountainous North Wales, with it's rocky and varied coastline such as here at Moelfre on the beautiful Isle of Anglesey, with today's image featuring a panorama of Moelfre Island, home to a colony of very raucous sea birds.
