Time lapse video showing the change from day to night over the town and castle of Conway on the North Wales coast

A clear evening's weather was all the incentive I needed last Monday to go for a climb up the Sychnant Pass, overlooking Conway on the North Wales coast.

This is a stunning viewpoint, and I took full advantage of the two hours I had up there to film this time lapse sequence showing the transition from day to night over Conway castle.

A weekend of active weather over the Snowdonia National Park, North Wales found my wife Liz and I dodging the showers and revelling in the magnificent mountain scenery on display.

These three time lapse videos were all taken around Snowdon, during the spells of mixed sunshine and cloud, during that time, and feature some impressive cloud action.

I was so taken with my time lapse video of sunset clouds over Moel Famau (see yesterday's blog entry) that I selected these two stills from the sequence I shot that evening.

The two images show different stages of the sunset and twilight, but both feature a human figure (not me!) silhouetted on the walls of the ruined Jubilee Tower on Moel Famau's summit.

Time lapse video of clouds at sunset over the Jubilee Tower on the summit of Moel Famau in the Clywdian Range Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), North Wales

I can't count the number of times I've turned up in a North Wales beauty spot, hoping for a lovely sunset to time lapse, only to be twarted by the weather turning everything a featureless grey.

So I really, really love it when the opposite happens and what I thought would be a washout filming session turns unexpectedly into something magical.

Such as last Monday evening, on top of my local hill Moel Famau, in the Clwydian Range Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).

Time lapse video of clouds over the beach and castle at Criccieth on the North Wales coast

It's quite a long drive for Liz and I to get to Criccieth at the base of the Llyn Peninsula on the North Wales coast, but the trip though the mountains of Snowdonia is spectacular, and Criccieth itself is a charming seaside town with lovely views.

So every now and then we make the effort, and this time we were rewarded with a lovely evening which I recorded in this short time lapse video.

A touch of déja vu here at goHOWie.com, with two time lapse videos from locations on the North Wales coast that I've photographed many, many times in the past.

But with ever changing light, weather and tidal conditions there's always some new beauty to discover in these familiar places.

I love it when you visit a place you've been to many times before, and maybe you think is getting a bit photographically stale, only to find some completely new views to explore and enjoy.

Such was the case at Llyn Padarn in the Snowdonia National Park, North Wales, when a turn down a previously ignored side road opened up a whole new range of photographic opportunity.

Click on the images to watch the time lapse videos I shot here just last weekend, and to read a bit more about them.

Time lapse video of dramatic clouds over the peaks of the Snowdon Horseshoe in the Snowdonia National Park, North Wales, as seen from Llyn Mymbyr Time lapse video of dramatic clouds and light over the peaks of the Snowdon Horseshoe in the Snowdonia National Park, North Wales

Is it August already?!

Looking at my archived files, I've still got to sort out stuff from last March, and going out shooting time lapse videos isn't helping in catching up with the backlog of work at all!

Still, when the weather's good (read 'interesting') then you don't want to be sat in front of a computer keywording images, so I don't feel too guilty about tramping around Snowdonia last weekend looking and photographing wonderful plays of light.

Just click on the thumbnails to watch the videos of Snowdon, and to read a bit more about them.

And don't forget that almost all of my videos are available for commercial licensing from my stock agencies Pond5 and Videoblocks.

One of the most visually stunning locations in the Snowdonia National Park, Wales, is the Mawddach Estuary as it enters the sea between the seaside towns of Fairbourne and Barmouth.

Panoramic image of the cliffs and lighthouse at South Stack on the Isle of Anglesey, North Wales

When it comes to suitable compositions for photographing as a panoramic collage I find that coastal scenery makes for pretty good subject matter, especially when the coast is as dramatic and beautiful as South Stack on the Isle of Anglesey.

But it wasn't just the scenery that was grabbing my attention on this particular afternoon in early summer.

Whew! I've finally caught up with the backlog of time lapse videos and travel photos that have been clogging up my hard drives for weeks, and I can get back to presenting the beauties of North Wales here at goHOWiE.com.

I seem to have accrued a large number of panoramic collages that I intend to show over the next week or so, starting with this almost 360° view of the West Shore at Llandudno, as seen from the beach on a rising tide.

My wife Liz and I are blessed to live in one of the most beautiful places on earth - North Wales, and we certainly make every effort to get out and about, seeing as much as we can of the coast, mountains, forests, lakes, waterfalls (I could go on) near our home town of Mold.

Everywhere we go I take my camera rig with me, to record as much of this beauty as I can in the form of still images, video and time lapse sequences.

So here are four of my latest efforts, three time lapse clips shot on the same evening on the North Wales coast and a video shot on a lovely, ethereal early morning in the Clywdian Forest.

The best time to photograph a beach is with the tide going out, as wave washed sand, free of footprints, is slowly revealed.

I took full advantage of the receding tide at Llangrannog on the Ceredigion coast, Mid Wales, one sunny afternoon, really enjoying my time photographing the rocks, sand and waves at this beautiful spot.

Here's just a small selection of the many images I took there.
