The story behind this image

The rolling hills of the Clwydian Range are never more beautiful than in autumn, with crisp light highlighting the glowing colours of the turning leaves and bracken.

And one of the loveliest places to see all this autumnal splendour is the Coed Llangwyfan forest on the slopes of Pen-y-Cloddiau.

My wife Liz and I spent a delightful few hours walking through the forest along an ancient bridle path running from Moel-y-Parc to the base of Moel Arthur, taking in the stunning scenery and absolute quiet (apart from birdsong that is) of this much loved region.

Of course, the sound of a shutter clicking did punctuate the silence every now and then, as I strove to capture some of the essence of this wonderful place.

This image was photographed on the return leg of our hike, as we climbed above the forest, following Offa's Dyke to the summit of Pen-y-Cloddiau and then onwards to Moel-y-Parc and the end of our adventure.

Just a wonderful day's outing that will stay in our hearts for a long while.
