A trip out to the seaside is always something to look forward to, especially on a rare sunny, crisp winter's day on the North Wales coast.
The tide was almost all the way in at the recently refurbished promenade and beach at Colwyn Bay, just forty five minutes' drive away from our home, as my wife Liz and I strolled along the shore.
The low angled winter sun was highlighting the churned sand and picking out lines of surf as the gentle waves kissed the beach, so it was down to the water's edge for me, squatting down low to emphasise the foreground in this image, while Liz kept a careful lookout for rogue waves threatening to swamp my boots.
I took a few images similar to this one, but this is my favourite due to the shapely wavefront and patterns in the receding waters.
