The story behind this image

During our two week holiday spent exploring the beautiful landscapes and coastlines of Devon and Cornwall my wife Liz and I used our Ordinance Survey maps of the area to seek out lesser known secluded bays and beaches.

One such discovery was the isolated cove of Crackington Haven to the south of Bude on the Atlantic coast of North Cornwall.

Bounded by very impressive sea cliffs and boasting a huge expanse of pristine sand at low tide, we made a few trips here during our stay, catching the views at various times of day in wildly different weather and tide conditons.

I captured this view of Crackington Haven on a sunny afternoon at low tide halfway up the coastal path that led up from the beach onto the cliff edge.

The red sign serves as an eye catching focal point for the image, and you can be sure I heeded the warning!
