The story behind this image

During our two week explore around the eastern half of the Mediterranean island of Crete in September 2017 my wife Liz and I made only one visit to most of the places we saw.

However, there were just a few locations that we made two or three visits to, as they were so lovely.

The seaside village of Mochlos, on the northeastern coast, was one such place.

A relatively undeveloped spot, right by the sea, with lovely views both around the seafront and out towards a small island just offshore, dotted with Minoan ruins.

Walking along the foreshore was a real treat, cooling our feet in the gentle waves and taking the odd photograph of the richly coloured rocks, set against the azure waters of the Mediterranean sea with that little island I mentioned with its tiny white painted church in the background.
