The story behind this image

During our two week explore around the eastern half of the Mediterranean island of Crete in September 2017 my wife Liz and I made only one visit to most of the places we saw.

However, there were just a few locations that we made two or three visits to, as they were so lovely.

The seaside village of Mochlos, on the northeastern coast, was one such place.

A relatively undeveloped spot, right by the sea, with lovely views both around the seafront and out towards a small island just offshore, dotted with Minoan ruins.

This photo was taken during our final visit to Mochlos, with actual clouds in the sky for once, and shows the little offshore island with its Minoan ruins and tiny greek orthodox church set like a jewel in the azure waters of the Mediterranean.

Well worth a second visit.
