The story behind this image

We really are spoilt for choice here in North Wales regarding interesting and beautiful places to visit.

With mountains, coasts, lakes, forests, waterfalls, rivers, castles, beaches and so on it's sometimes hard to decide what to put in the satnav for a day out.

But with the long summer evenings up here at 53°N my wife Liz and I were able to venture further afield than usual, taking a drive through the beautiful Snowdonia National Park and ending up on the coast at Criccieth on the Llyn Peninsula.

Criccieth is a wonderful, quirky seaside town, complete with a decent castle on a rocky headland overlooking the twin beaches.

This panoramic collage features the eastern beach at low tide, with views out the the mountains of Snowdonia in the far distance.
