The story behind this image

The coastal scenery around the Hartland peninsula on the Atlantic coast of North Devon must surely be some of the most spectacular in the world.

With soaring cliffs rearing out of the azure waters of the ocean below, Hartland was a go to destination for my wife Liz and I during our two week stay spent exploring the beauties of Devon and Cornwall.

One stop we made was at Hartland Point, in order to walk the cliffs and see the dramatically positioned lighthouse on the rocks far below.

It was quite a trek uphill to the viewing point at the top of the cliff, but well worth the effort when we got there are were able to take in views like this, of the cliffs, the lighthouse and Lundy Island on the distant Atlantic horizon.

Having put the effort in to get to this point, I also shot a few seconds of real time video featuring the lighthouse, holding my tripod down on the cliff edge while being buffeted by the stiff onshore breeze.
