The story behind this image

When my wife Liz and I first arrived at the stunning Hartland Quay on the Atlantic coast of North Devon during our two week stay spent exploring this part of the country our minds were just blown by the incredible scenery.

As well as the 'big' views out to sea and along the coast we were very taken with the incredible geological formations and convoluted rock strata on display in the towering cliffs and wave blasted foreshore.

This particular rock formation, only accessible at low tide, was the main attraction for most of the visitors to Hartland Quay.

With rock strata emerging from the shoreline boulders at a steep angle, and with a hole formed all the way through from previous collapses, this was a fascinating sight and well worth a photograph or five.
