The story behind this image

During the coronavirus lockdown in the autumn of 2020 my wife Liz and I spent quite a bit of time discovering new places to visit and photograph in our locality.

One such discovery was the Greenfield Heritage Park, an eclectic mix of woodland, manmade reservoirs, decaying industrial buildings and the ruins of Basingwerk Abbey.

Just a short step from the car park I spotted these rusting and peeling corrugated iron doors, set in an old red brick shed, and my eye was immediated drawn to the fantastic mix of colours and textures on the neglected steel.

So while Liz was getting her hiking boots on I nipped down to the shed with my camera and tripod (the light was very flat and dull) and captured a set of images from various angles and compositions.

In the end I chose two from the set that gave the best arrangements of form, texture and colour to add to my collection of industrial dereliction images.
