The story behind this image

A week's holiday in the west of Ireland found my wife Liz and I re-visiting some of our favourite places along the Wild Atlantic Way coastal drive.

One such spot was the Burren National Park in County Clare, an amazing geological treat comprising a huge area of limestone pavement stretching right down to the Atlantic ocean.

The Wild Atlantic Way takes you right along the edge of the coast at this point, passing the famous Black Head lighthouse on the way round.

I've often driven past here wanting to stop and photograph, only to be frustrated by the lack of parking. (One space, maybe two if you're on a bike!).

But on this windy and cloudy evening I actually had the road and parking space to myself, so I made the most of the opportunity to take several photos of the lighthouse and limestone pavement, using multiple exposures to capture the extreme contrast range for a subsequent HDR blend in Adobe Lightroom.

Being cheeky, I also set my camera off taking a few hundred stills for fifteen minutes to produce my Black Head Timelaspe #1 video.

Then it was back into the car and onto the next beautiful spot along this wonderful stretch of coastline.
