While staying at Lake Como in the Italian mountains for a couple of weeks' holiday, my wife Liz and I took the opportunity to have a look at the many towns that dotted the lake shore.
Right at the northern end of Lake Como is the town of Gravedona.
Although quite a tourist hotspot, Gravedona still retains an air of quiet gentility, and Liz and I enjoyed a couple of lovely evenings here.
This view, taken just after sunset, shows a small boat moored just offshore set against a mountainous background with the twilight colours of the sky reflecting in the still waters of the lake.
