The final day of my wife Liz's and my long weekend break in England's Lake district towards the end of July 2020, and we wanted to end on a high, so to speak.
It was an overcast day, so we decided to visit the falls and forest at Aira Force, just above Ullswater.
I had an ulterior motive for suggesting Aira Force, as flowing water and forest trees photogragh better under dull, even, shadowless, low contrast lighting.
And so it proved to be.
We had a great time walking the woodland paths alongside Aira Beck, taking in the subtle beauty and peace of this delicate ecosystem.
And of course, we took our time and had plenty of 'rest' stops in order for me to photograph and video the falls.
This image shows the upper part of the larger waterfall at Aira Force, with the flowing water emerging from under an old stone arch bridge right at the top of the main falls.
