My wife Liz and I were enjoying a long weekend in England's Lake District towards the end of July 2020, driving and hiking around the beautiful landscapes in unusually benign weather.
One of our trips took us southwards from Keswick towards Derwent Water, passing close to the small village of Castlerigg, set in rolling farmland sandwiched between the lake and the uplands of Downthwaitehead.
The scenery here was just gorgeous, complimented by patchwork lighting as the sun played hide and seek in and out of the summer clouds, casting shadows onto the uplands in the far distance.
So of course I had to pull into a convenient layby to capture a few images.
