The story behind this image

A beautiful sunny summer's day in north Wales and my wife Liz and I were pondering where to go to enjoy the views and sunshine.

With a whole day free at our disposal we decided to venture a bit further afield than our usual haunts around Snowdonia and the North Wales coast, and so we headed south to have a look at Lake Vyrnwy in Powys, Mid Wales.

We'd been there before, on a cloudy, cold and wet day, so we were looking forward to seeing the lake under better conditions.

Well we weren't disappointed, and enjoyed a great day out walking and photographing the stunning scenery.

This photo features the gothic architecture of the Victorian water filtration tower on the west side of the lake, which makes for a great photographic subject with its pointed steeple and crenellated stonework.
