The story behind this image

In our Lanzarote guidebook, one of the 'must visit' places was the Costa de Papagayo on the south coast of the island.

So during our week long winter sun break in the Canary Islands in February 2018 my wife Liz and I made a special effort to see this coastline.

Known as an area popular with nudists, we were a little nervous of what we would find, and I was especially nervous of what the nudists would think when I plonked a large camera and tripod combo down in their midst to photograph the scenery.

But we needn't have worried, as an unseasonably cold snap (19°C!), together with a stiff ocean breeze, kept everyone well wrapped up!

After a good wander around I chose this spot to photograph the Costa de Papagayo from, high up on the cliffs giving me a good view all the way along this lovely stretch of coast.

A panoramic format seemed the most appropriate to show the scenery in its entirety, so in the end I took a string of overlapping frames to be blended later in Adobe Lightroom to give me a really high resolution image, full of detail.
