The week long winter break that my wife Liz and I enjoyed on Lanzarote in the Canary Islands was certainly blessed with mixed weather.
Great for photography but not so good for strolling along promenades and al fresco dining.
However, there was one day on which the sun shone all day long, it was nice and warm and there was no threat of rain.
So we took advantage of the lovely long promenade just a few yards from our resort at Puerto del Carmen to enjoy a four mile gentle stroll eastwards all the way to the airport and back, with a stop for lunch at O'Shea's Irish Bar on the way.
Even though Puerto del Carmen is one of the more heavily developed tourist zones on Lanzarote, we found the area to be very pleasant to look at indeed, with low rise buildings, well maintained tasteful architecture and very clean.
Although photographing resorts isn't really my bag, I did find a few nice views and details to capture, such as this snap of an elderly cyclist on the promenade's dedicated cycle path, a common sight at Puerto del Carmen.
