The story behind this image

One of the most popular day trip destinations in North Wales, if not the entire UK, is the seaside town of Llandudno.

With its Victorian architecture exuding an air of genteel decay, Llandudno is a great place for a stroll along the mile long promenade while taking in the sea air along with the evocative aroma of fish and chips.

Fortunately for my wife Liz and I, our home is just a forty five minute drive away, so we can come here whenever we choose.

The only problem we face is parking, and we usually end up right at the less popular eastern end of the bay, which then gives us a half hour gentle amble along the promenade to reach the pier at the far western end by the Great Orme heasdland.

On this particular Sunday evening in the summer of 2017 we'd agreed to meet up with a couple of friends who were enjoying the scenery right at the end of the pier, so after a long walk from our parked car we were mightly glad of a sit down and a cup of coffee with them at the cafe.

Of course I'd brought my camera, so while Liz chatted away with her friend and I talked signal to noise ratios with her sound engineer husband I set up my gear and took advantage of the unique viewpoint to take the thirty or so overlapping frames required to make this panoramic collage of Llandudno Bay in its entirety, framed by portions of the pier at either end of the composition.

With everyone still happily chatting and drinking I also took the opportunity to shoot various scenes for my Llandudno Time lapse #27 video, before it was finally time to pack up and head to a local bar for yet another coffee before heading home.

What a lovely way to spend a summer's evening, complete with photos and a video to remember it by.
