The story behind this image

A beautiful early spring evening on the North Wales coast, and my wife Liz and I are parked up on the West Shore at Llandudno watching the sunset as the tide goes out.

The warm, low angled light is grazing the shoreline rocks, slowly being revealed by the ebbing tide, with the headlands at Penmaenmawr and Llanfairfechan in shadow under a bank of cloud in the far distance.

Time to get the camera out then, and stumble my way across the slippery stones to the water's edge to capture a few images of the light catching the wet rocks right at the water's edge.

When I'm out photographing, passersby often ask me what I'm taking pictures of, and my usual answer is 'the light', as a beautiful scene lit in an unflattering way just doesn't cut it, but when you have light such as this on the lovely North Wales coast then the pictures just sing!
