The story behind this image

After a couple of days enjoying the beauty of the Gower Peninsula on the South Wales coast, my wife Liz and I were bracing ourselves for the long drive back home to North Wales.

But we couldn't leave the area without a diversion to the Ceredigion coast at Llangrannog, to spend a couple of hours walking the lovely beach and headlands of this gem of a spot.

Plus, the weather was extremely nice after a few days of mixed rain and sun, so a final dose of rays was not to be missed.

Llangrannog was at its finest in the bright sunshine, so I took plenty of photos as we walked around.

The tide turned during our visit, so I took advantage of the newly washed and exposed sand to take a series of images around the dramatic rock formations at the north end of the beach, without footprints marring the effect.

This panoramic collage takes in a field of view in finer detail than I could manage with a single exposure using a wide angle lens, and captures a receding wave at just the right point relative to the sand and rocks.

I also used the opportunity to shoot a video of the waves sweeping in and out at this spot, which you can view by following this link.
