The story behind this image

A rare sunny summer's day in the Snowdonia National Park, North Wales, found me with a whole day off work to explore and photograph some of the most iconic scenery the park has to offer.

Llyn Llydaw, at the base of Snowdon and accessed by the well maintained Miner's Path, offers some stunning views of the mountain's summit and the surrounding Snowdon Horseshoe ridge.

So I took full adavantage of the unusually fine weather to go into a photographic feeding frenzy, shooting multiple time lapse sequences and dozens of still images featuring the lake and mountains.

This particular shot captures the shoreline of the lake, backed with the southern end of the horseshoe ridge and if you look carefully you can see some abandoned mine working to the right of the frame.
