The story behind this image

A rare sunny summer's day in the Snowdonia National Park, North Wales, found me with a whole day off work to explore and photograph some of the most iconic scenery the park has to offer.

Llyn Llydaw, at the base of Snowdon and accessed by the well maintained Miner's Path, offers some stunning views of the mountain's summit and the surrounding Snowdon Horseshoe ridge.

So I took full advantage of the unusually fine weather to go into a photographic feeding frenzy, shooting multiple time lapse sequences and dozens of still images featuring the lake and mountains.

However, one can have too much of a good thing, so I was really glad when these beautiful cirrus clouds formed over the summit of Snowdon.
