After having taken a photo of this watchtower at Santanyi on Mallorca in its entirety (Santanyi Watch Tower, Mallorca #1), I then took a few minutes for a closer look around to see what it was that I found so attractive about the scene.
In the end it boiled down to this contradiction between the straight lines of the iron ladder, and its distinctly curvy shadow, cast onto the round wall of the tower by the harsh midday sun.
So, basing my approach on the 'less is more' principle, of which I am so fond, I framed up this image, concentrating on just those elements for a slightly abstract interpretation of this Mallorcan landmark.
