The coastline of Mallorca may be quite touristic, but head inland a few miles and you're in a completely different environment.
My wife Liz and I spent a couple of days driving around the Serra de Tramuntana mountains during our holiday, enjoying the scenery and experiencing a more authentic Mallorca than is to be found in the coastal resorts.
We pulled into this isolated inn's car park, hoping for some refreshment, but unfortunately it was closed.
Never mind though, as it was good to stop driving those hairpin roads for a while and stretch the legs.
After a few minutes wandering around my 'photographer' brain kicked in and I started looking for compositions and arrangements that would make for a pleasing image.
After a few shutter clicks to warm up the creative muscle, I eventually settled on this courtyard shot, featuring the old stone steps as a lead in to the frame, with trees framing the inn very niclely.
The late afternoon sun provided a lovely warm soft light to compliment the scene, and after this photo was taken we went on our way, refreshed in mind and soul if not in body.
