Surely one of the most iconic views in North Wales.
This scene, looking out over the Menai Straits from the Anglesey side towards Snowdonia has it all.
Mountains, forests, sea, pasture, and of course the wonderful feat of engineering that is the Thomas Telford suspension bridge, spanning the narrowest part of the Straits.
I've lost count of the number of times my wife Liz and I have parked up to admire and photograph this view, each time seeing some new aspect thanks to the ever changing weather, light and tidal conditions that the North Wales coast is renowned for.
This particular late afternoon in May was definately on the benign side, with warm sun and fluffy cumulus clouds over the mountains but believe me - it's not always like this!
Having photographed the bridge close up, I also wanted to capture an image of the bridge in context, showing a goodly portion of the Menai Straits as well.
To achieve this I could have used a very wide angle lens and crop a significant amount of sky and foreground out, leaving me with a relatively low resolution image.
But I find shooting like this very unsatisfying, especially when there is so much beauty and detail on offer that would be degraded with a cropped single image.
So instead I shot a series of overlapping frames at a moderate fcoal length, taking in the whole sweep of the Menai Straits that was visible from my vantage point.
Then it was the work of but a few seconds in Adobe Lightroom to merge the individual exposures into a super high resolution panoramic collage, with all that lovely detail available to view.
A much more appropriate treatment of such a glorious landscape.
