One of the most glorious signs of summer is the blooming of poppies.
These delightful, but fragile flowers don't last long, but while they are out they dominate any garden with their vivid colours and large petals.
This variety, Papaver Orientale, is especially dramatic with its translucent orange petals which glow when backlit by the summer sun.
