A late evening in May 2007 and it was a rare day on the North Wales coast, with clear skies right down to the horizon.
My wife Liz and I were taking a stroll along the promenade at Rhyl, watching entranced as the sky turned golden to the west, out over the Irish Sea, as the sun dropped towards the horizon.
Too good an opportunity to miss, especially as the tide was out, leaving acres of wet sand and tidal pools reflecting the beautiful colours overhead, so it was quickly out with the camera and tripod to capture some of the loveliness unfolding in front of our eyes.
This image, taken just at the last moment of sunset, was captured from the promenade, and I used a convenient streetlight to add a vertical element to an otherwise horizontal composition.

Lens - 24-105mm zoom @ 105mm
Exposure - 1/50 sec @ f/11, ISO100
Filters - 2 stop neutral density graduated filter used to reduce the brightness of the sky.
Location - Rhyl, North Wales
Image enhancements - Adobe Lightroom
Comments - Tripod, mirror lockup and remote release used to prevent camera movement.
