A small haven from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, this is the hidden valley of the River Alyn at Maeshafn in the Clwdian Range Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), North Wales.
My wife Liz and I took a walk along the riverside path here during the coronavirus lockdown of Spring 2020, revelling in the peace and quiet, our senses caressed by the unmistakable aroma of wild garlic, the feel of a breeze on our faces and the susurrant sound of water flowing over rocks.
The river was a delight, with small cascades, eddies and still pools just below our feet.
So of course, I was stopping every few paces to take yet another photo featuring that gorgeous flowing water, rendered to a pleasing blur thanks to a longish shutter speed in the dim, shadowless light under the woodland canopy.
Just wonderful to be here in spring, and I can't wait to return to experience this amazing refuge from modern life in summer, autumn and winter as well.
