The story behind this image

Criss-crossing the Snowdonia landscape in North Wales, these rickety old wooden and wire fences aren't the most attractive features on display in this stunning and wild area, but they do make for very useful photographic elements, adding a touch of man-made linearity to an otherwise flat vista of rock and grass.

Which is why I'll always include them in a composition given half a chance.

This particular line of fencing is in the Carneddau range, following the Dwr Cymru access road up to the Fnynnon Llugwy reservoir, which was the destination for a hike my wife Liz and I took on a beautiful, sunny New Year's day 2020.

We were both quite glad of the multiple pauses I took to photograph fences and other features on our way up the rather steep track!
