Voted Britain's favourite mountain, this is the wonderful Tryfan, part of the Glyderau range in the Snowdonia National Park, North Wales.
It was a very early start for me in order to catch the sunrise up the Ogwen valley one morning in early June 2007, but light of this quality is worth losing sleep over!
Another advantage of a dawn excursion is that there's no-one there but you, there's no traffic noise to disturb the quiet, tranquil landscape and you can just stand there, letting the peace and beauty of God's creation wash away the cares of this life for a little while.
Oh - and you can also take a few timely photos of course, such as this view, using a sunlit rock in the foreground to contrast against the unmistakeable contours of Tryfan, still in shadow, in the background.
