The story behind this image

One of the best sunset locations on the North Wales coast must surely be South Stack cliffs on the beautiful Isle of Anglesey.

With sunset visible all year round, and with the iconic South Stack lighthouse dramatically perched on its rocky promentary below, all you need is decent weather and you can enjoy one of the best light shows anywhere in the world.

On this particular evening in July 2018 the quality of light was just to die for, with a weather front having cleared the air of moisture and dust previously, leaving the western sky to glow with the ethereal beauty of twilight.

I picked my spot for this photo carefully, to show the lighthouse as a silhouette against the glowing sea, with the exposure timed to catch the pulsing spot of light from the top of the tower.

I've been here photographing many, many times, but every time I see something different.

Just a wonderful place and one I'll keep on revisiting as long as I'm able.
