During our two week stay in an apartment overlooking Lake Como in northern Italy I took advantage of the spectacular view from our balcony to shoot timelapse sequences through the night, capturing the varied weather and lighting conditions that occured during our stay.
Conditions ranged from clear, moonlit skies right through to a dramatic thunderstorm over the mountains, and most nights I'd set my camera up taking still images of the scene every few seconds before retiring to bed.
I'd have to get up in the early hours to change the camera's battery, but apart from that I just let the camera run and see what I'd filmed the following morning.
This particular shoot captured dramatic clouds streaming over the lake and surrounding mountains while the lights of the lakeside towns of Varenna, Menaggio and Bellagio blazed out into the night and the cross lake ferries flew bwetween the towns like demented fireflies.
Not a bad night's work from the comfort of my bed!
