A bitterly cold winter's day in the Snowdonia National Park, North Wales and the storm clouds were building up over the snow capped peaks of the Gylderau.
My wife Liz and I were anticipating a hike around the edge of Llyn Ogwen, but soon changed our minds when we stuck our noses out of the car and felt that biting wind blowing through, with the promise of more snow to come.
But the view up the lake from the layby where we were parked was just magnificent - typical winter Snowdonia - so I wasn't going to just give up without making an effort to photograph this dramatic scene.
Climbing down to the edge of the lake gave me a better viewpoint, and took some of the edge off the wind, so I set up my good old Canon 6D on its tripod and spent the next forty minutes or so hunkered down shooting the hundreds of still frames required to make this time lapse video.
Liz, very sensibly, stayed put in the car with the heater on until I'd finished and climbed back up.
Good job it was just a short drive to the Ogwen Visitors' Centre and a good hot cup of coffee!
