This time lapse video shows the huge cranes in action at Liverpool 2 Container Terminal on the banks of the river Mersey in England as clouds race by overhead, casting patches of sunlight and shadow across the scene.
My wife Liz and I had started our day's adventures with a trip to West Kirby on the Wirral Peninsula, for a walk around the Marine Lake (interesting at high tide with an onshore breeze!) and a coffee to finish while we dried off.
With still plenty of the day left to enjoy, we decided on an exploratory drive around the top of the Wirral, taking in Hoylake, Leasowe and Wallasey before ending up on the promenade at Egremont.
The promenade gave us a great view out across the famous River Mersey to the iconic skyline of the Liverpool waterfront, with clouds scudding by overhead casting patches of sunlight and shadow over the skyscapers and Royal Liver Building.
So of course, it was out with the camera to record the few hundred still images needed to create this time lapse video.
But in the end I cut my shooting session short, as heavier, unbroken cloud covered the sun, casting a solid shadow over the whole scene.
But my appetite for this view had certainly been wetted, and I made a mental note to return for more time lapse filming at a later date.
