A beautiful pre-dawn morning finds me on the slopes of Moel Famau in the Clwydian Range Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) in North Wales, watching as patches of clouds race overhead towards the gradually lightening eastern sky.
My favourite time of day, the changes in light as the sun approaches the horizon at dawn are just wonderful to behold, and made all the more special by the solitude that usually accompanies such an early start.
Of course, I'm not going to just stand and stare at the sky for an hour and a half, entrancing though it might be, without trying to capture some of the meaning and wonder I'm feeling witnessing the birth of a new day.
So along with admiring God's handiwork in the ordering of the heavens I'm also keeping an eye on my tripod mounted camera as it clicks away every six seconds recording the hundreds of frames needed to make this time lapse video.
Multiple fine adjustments to exposure are needed as the light levels increase, which serve to keep me on my toes and alert as night slowly gives way to day.
Eventually the show's over until tomorrow, and it's time to head home and then to work for another day in the factory.
Do I envy those who lie in bed until the last possible minute before rushing out - not a bit!
